With IPAR Ballina since May 2021, Beth supports injured clients in their return to work. This role involves liaising with the client, their GP and treaters such as Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Physiotherapists, surgeons and Workcover insurers. Beth conducts vocational and workplace assessments, provides vocational counselling and case management, and utilises motivational interviewing to support clients in achieving their vocational rehabilitation goals via the creation of return to work plans that are achievable.
Beth’s previous work history includes volunteer work at Peer Based Harm Reduction Centre in Perth where she assisted in supporting home and street based consumers to obtain safe injecting equipment, provided support when people sought other services, and provided education regarding safe drug use and health care.
What Beth loves about working in mental health
“I love being able to create a safe space for clients to be able to share their vulnerabilities and goals. Working in mental health gives me the opportunity to work with clients to achieve goals – whether these are physical or psychological – that will help them to not just survive in life, but thrive.”
